ILO SCORE PROJECT
Sustaining Competitive and Responsible Enterprises (SCORE) is an ILO programme that aims at improving the productivity and competitiveness of Small and Medium sized Enterprises by way of developing workplace cooperation between management and labour on:
Work Place Cooperation (Module 1)
Quality (Module 2)
Productivity and Cleaner production (Module 3)
Human Resource Management (Module 4)
Occupational Health and Safety and Environment (Module 5)
Introduced by Government of Ghana, in collaboration with International Labour Organisation (ILO) and development partners- Swiss State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO and Norwegian Agency for Development Cooperation (NORAD)
The programme targets clusters of Companies with 30-300 employees. The training strategy combines in-class training of workers and managers with on-site enterprise consulting/coaching. SCORE training is delivered through local institutions and trainers. A key outcome of the SCORE project is to support the capacity development of these local training institutions and use them to implement the Project.
The purpose of the program is to assist SMEs with potential for growth to improve performance and to make them competitive, self-sustaining, responsible and capable of increasing production of quality goods and services whilst creating job avenues. The Ghana project started in October 2010 and officially launched on Tuesday 16th November 2011.
STCCI is the implementing partner for the ILO SCORE program in the Western and Central Regions. The SCORE Project in collaboration with STCCI started the Training of Enterprises in Manufacturing in Western and Central Region involving the training of 12 selected trainers and 6 selected enterprises since July 2015. Since then, STCCI has trained 41 companies in the first module alone and is poised to train more companies in 2017. The success of this program has been evidenced by the plausible feedback it has had from CEOs of these enterprises and the physical evidence (Changes) that has occurred in them.
STCCI encourages all companies in the Manufacturing, Production, Welding and Fabrication, Warehousing, and other related industries to take advantage of this opportunity to increase productivity by reducing costs and waste, thereby improving their profitability, staff satisfaction and customer satisfaction for a more sustainable business.
